elcoStack® delivers world-leading efficiency in both fuel cell and electrolyser modes.

Solid oxide stacks for fuel cell systems

The elcoStack® can use different fuels like biogas, natural gas, and hydrogen to generate electrical power. On top of that, most hydrocarbons can be converted into electricity with the elcoStack in combination with a fuel processing system.

Whether you are building a combined heat and power system (CHP) or off-grid genset, the elcoStack provides the highest efficiency power generation. This fuel flexibility lowers OPEX and futureproofs your investment.

Solid oxide stacks for electrolyser systems

In SOEC mode, the elcoStack® enables high-temperature steam electrolysis, the most efficient pathway to green hydrogen production, and can integrate industrial waste heat to maximise output and lower cost per kilogram.

Unlike low-temperature water electrolysis technologies, SOEC operates at significantly higher temperatures and steam (evaporated water) is supplied as feedstock to the solid oxide electrolyser. The high temperature operation and inherent faster reactions reduce losses and operating voltage in SOEC compared to low-temperature electrolysis technologies, making the entire process more efficient for hydrogen production and reducing the demand for renewable electricity.

Empowering the energy ecosystem with technology that delivers

Integrates with industrial processes: You can use waste heat from common industrial processes like ammonia production, steel making and Power-to-X processes to greatly increase the efficiency of your hydrogen production plant.
With you all the way: We offer integration support covering consultancy on process and system design, advice on balance-of-plant component and material selection, simulations and process calculations with consultation on testing and operation procedures.
Lowering investment barriers: Our electrolyser stacks consume 30% less power than alternative technology, reducing renewable energy, land and capital requirements while producing more green hydrogen.
Mass-manufacturing capabilities: Our brand new state-of-the-art 14,000 m² production facility has increased production capacity to 360 MW, positioning the company as one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of high-efficiency SOFC and SOEC technology.

Integration and engineering services

Our experienced engineers can support you in all stages of system development. Starting from validating your test procedures via system design reviews up to on-line or on-site support during the start-up of your prototype, we will make sure that your application works perfectly with our stacks. This reduces your development effort and cost and ensures a faster time to market for your system. We routinely perform the following tasks in support of our customer’s system development:
  • Consulting on process design
  • Advise on balance of plant component selection
  • Consulting on the system design
  • Simulations and process calculations
  • Consulting on testing and operation procedures
  • Online or on-site support for integrating the Elcogen stack module into the customer’s system
